Breeding parrots

Hi I have all breeding pairs at adult age and ready for breeding… so the main question is can parrots breed without breeding season.. (parrots like Amazon, cocatooo umbrella, cocatooo gala and African grey pairs)
Like is it must for them to breed at breeding seasons only? Or they can breed anytime in year.. because I heard that if it’s not breeding season then the eggs may be infertile or they won’t breed …thank you

Answer:

Hi,

In captivity, breeding season does not really exist like it does in the wild in their natural habitat. Most captive parrots will breed when the conditions are right – longer days, warmer temperatures, abundant food and a safe, quiet, private area. If there are a lot of other pairs too close to them, some pairs will not breed. If your birds do breed, you have to limit how many times a year they breed. The nest box should always be removed and the pair rested for 6 months between clutches. Infertility has nothing to do with the time of year they chose to breed.
