Budgie diet

My budgies will only eat seed and millet. I cant get them to try any other foods. They aren’t tamed either so its much harder. How do I get them to try fruits and veggies?

Answer:

Hi Natalie,

What your birds eat is up to you and what you provide for them. Of course they are going to eat what they like best, whether it is good for them or not. All birds can be converted to a nutritious diet, as long as the owner doesn’t give up too soon. The best diet is a pelleted food or our foraging diets or both. As for fresh foods, keep offering different kinds. It can take a while for a bird to recognize a new item as something they can eat. With two birds, they usually learn faster because they tend to compete with each other. They do not need to be tame to learn to eat well.  Below is a link to our feeding guide.
