Budgie mesh size

Can a budgie cage be made of rodent proof mesh, or will the small aperture be potentially injurious to toes? It’s 5mmx5mm 0.6mm thickness.

Hi,

The main concern is this wire usually has exposed lead welds which will poison the birds. Getting claws or toes caught can also be a concern. It’s better to work out a separate rodent proof enclosure that the cage will be inside of.
