Budgie moving head back and forth after eatinf

I adopted a very tiny budgie about four months ago. Every time she eats she opens and closes her beam for about 5 minutes and then moves her head from side to side. The head movement will last typically anywhere from an addition five minutes up to a half an hour. Often times she takes a tiny bit of food, moves her head for an extended period of time, then finally goes back for more. I’ve taken her to a vet multiple times to see if she’s got any kind of illness or disease but everything came back negative. I’m not sure if it’s just a weird quirk she has or if it’s something bigger. It’s kind of hard to explain, but I do have videos of it if that helps. I was wondering if you’ve heard of anything like this before? It’s different from a head bob and beak grinding and the movements are fast and repetitive. If you have any idea of what this could be or what could cause it I would love to hear! Thank you!

Answer:

Hi,

It may just be an odd quirk. I can’t picture what she is doing. You can send video clips to [email protected] and I’ll let you know if it is something I have observed before.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
