Budgie sleeping issue

If a budgie is afraid of its owner, can it sleep in the presense of its owner. The owner doesn’t know how to tame it rather he grabs it.The budgie and the owner stays in the same room. Can the budgie sleep in his sleeping hut inside the cage when the owner is doing his own work.Won’t it come to the budgie’s mind that the owner may grab him again if he sleeps? So the budgie may not sleep?

Answer:

Hi,

It’s not very likely that the budgie would be that on guard all the time, unless he was regularly abused or grabbed to the point that he was terrified each time. They are much more likely to be disturbed by lights. So if you have to work in the same room when the budgie should be sleeping, you might get a light cover to put over the bird’s cage. He really does not need a sleeping hut or nest. They only use a nest once a year, during nesting season and the rest of the year, they sleep on tree branches. They do not sleep inside of anything and giving him a hut can cause him to be hormonal, which can cause a lot of stress. He just needs a high perch in the cage to sleep on.
