Budgies

Hello,
I have three budgies they have been together since birth and they are approximately 13 months old.
what will happen to them if l separate them now? to find a nice home to each one of them. Are they going to let themselves die the fact they get separated or they will be fine?
please advise

thank you and kind regards

Answer:

Hi Nassera,

They will be fine. If you have males and females, they must be separated now or they will start mating with each other. Just tell each new owner to watch and make sure the bird is eating well. Each bird will need some time to adjust, but generally they adjust within a couple of weeks or so. They are not likely to be so upset that they won’t eat. Even bonded mates end up being OK if a mate dies. I can’t say it has never happened, but I’ve never known a bird to die from being separated from a companion. These are clutch mates, so they should not be bonded anyway. Let each have a good home and get to be spoiled. 🙂

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
