Budgies

My budies are breeding and they also lay one egg but she don’t sit on the eggs . Is there is any problem

Answer:

Hi,

If this is their first clutch, the pair will usually make mistakes and fail to hatch or care for the eggs. It can take a couple of tries for them to have success. And some pairs never manage to raise any chicks. All you can do is make sure both birds are old enough – 18-24 months old for budgies – their nest box should be attached to the outside of the cage as high as possible, they need to be in a quiet area with little human contact, they need a nutritionally balanced diet and not just a seed mix, and you should give them dark leafy greens, chopped veggies and fruits, and now while they are set up for breeding, cooked eggs with the shell washed, crushed and cooked with the eggs. She will usually lay 4-6 eggs, every other day. Some hens will not start to sit on the eggs until most or all of the eggs have been laid.
