Budgies flying together.

Hi I have a breeding pair, in their own cage. The male has been out(flying) on his own for exercise. Female won’t come out (sitting on her eggs).. I have 5 other budgies, not breeding and not planning to…Can I let the breeding male, fly with the other 5 for exercise and company..

Answer:

Hi Linda,

Breeding birds really need to be left along with their mates when they are actively nesting. The female might decide he has abandoned her and this can cause her to leave the eggs. I would wait until they are done with these eggs or have weaned any chicks before you allow them out for flying.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
