Budgies Not Sitting On Eggs

For the past week or 2 my budgie has been in the nesting box, we know that the two budgies have mated, she has layed 2 eggs and isnt sitting on them at all, please help

Answer:

Hi Anthony,

Budgies will lay 4-6 eggs and most hens will not start to incubate them until they have laid at least 3. This keeps the last hatched from being so much smaller than the 1st hatch. Hopefully she will start to sit on them. It takes most pairs at least one clutch, and sometimes several before they do everything right. And some birds simply don’t make good breeders. Give your pair plenty of privacy so they can feel secure and focus on the eggs.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
