Can cockatiels get beak and feather disease?

Hi lafeber team,
Real quick question that i can’t seem to find any reliable sources that answer:
Can cockatiels get PBFD (Beak and feather disease)?
I’ve heard they can’t get it but i have also heard the opposite, i trust this site and the team here.
Can you please shed some much needed light on this topic?

Hi Joseph,

Yes, they can definitely get it, and there are documented cases. It is more common for young birds to contract it. Theoretically, any parrot species can get it. There is still a lot of research going on, and discoveries to be made before this disease is fully understood.
