Canary eggs

Hi

my canary has laid 4 eggs, not hatched now plus 18 days

she never mated . i am not a breeder. will they hatch as she stopped sitting on them now but still protective

the colour is light blue with some veins

Answer:

Hi,

If she doesn’t have a mate she should not have a nest. If she has a mate but they haven’t mated, the eggs can’t be fertile and would not have veins. You can go ahead and throw the eggs away and remove the nest since she stopped sitting on them. If she does have a mate, do not give them a nest until they show signs of being bonded and start mating. A single bird should never have a nest. They will lay eggs over and over again until it kills her if you give her a nest. Even with a mate, you should never leave the nest in there all the time. They need to be rested for several months between each clutch.
