Canary toys
Does a pair of canaries need toys? I was told that it’s better not since they have each other?

Hi Batz,
Canaries can enjoy toys and having toys isn’t going to affect breeding. They usually enjoy the plastic toys made for small birds, especially anything with small bells. They also enjoy swings. You can even hang a ladder from the top of the cage and they will get in the rungs and use it like a swing. They also like the toy that is several plastic rings hanging vertically – again they will sit in the rings. Only add one toy at a time so you do not overwhelm them. Remember that the nest needs to be removed after each clutch, to rest the pair for a few months. So if they have toys, that gives them something to do when it isn’t time for breeding.
