Cleaning fabric and wood floors?

What is safe for cleaning home? I have 2 budgies. Everything I read seems to be conflicting! Can I mix vinegar, water, and an essential oil in a spray bottle to spray and refresh couches? I’d hate to hurt my birds unknowingly. So what is safe for cleaning?

Answer:

Hi Cree,

I use white vinegar with water and a small amount of lemon juice as an all purpose cleaner & deodorizer. Pure baking soda is a great cleaner and deodorizer, but it does need to be rinsed well or vacuumed. You can sprinkle it dry on fabric surfaces and carpets and then vacuum. For stains, use the baking soda and pour full strength vinegar on it – this becomes a foaming cleaner once combined and will do the work for you. After it dries you can vacuum the area. Bona hardwood floor cleaner is a pet safe cleaner, although I would still make sure the area is well ventilated during use. I have used it safely around my birds. I hope this helps!

Happy New Year!
