Cleaning with vinegar – Dr. Lamb Webinar Sept 16

Is it ok to use vinigar in small drops along with city water on metal bowls for cleaning rinsed well & throughly dried with cotton towel? We have an eight month old Conure.

Answer:

Hi Debbie & Jerry,

It’s perfectly fine to clean with white vinegar. It can even be wiped on the cage bars. It’s non-toxic and dries quickly. If you do a Google search, you can find tips from other bird owners who use this for cleaning. Your metal bowls can also be washed in the dishwasher. Both of these cleaning methods are meant for stainless steel bowls. Other metals are not recommended anymore, especially as a water dish, because of possible heavy metal exposure.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
