Cockatiel behavior Part 3

What size of cage should I get?

Answer:

Hi Francine,

A good size is 24″ X 24″ X 24-36″ high. The bird needs room for the long tail and should be able to flap his wings without hitting the sides. Some people buy as small as 18 X 18 – I feel that is a bit small unless the bird is out a lot. With a smaller cage, the tail feathers and wing feathers are more likely to get damaged.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
