Cockatiel health

avain vet said my male cockatiel lost 20 grams from 2019 he weighted 90 grams. his chest bone is very sharp. how do i put his weight back on him

Answer:

Hi Jen,

When a bird loses that much weight, and gets in the condition you describe, there is a reason this happened. Did your Vet run any tests? Did he determine why the bird lost so much weight? Nothing is going to put the weight back on until he has been treated for what caused the weight loss. We do manufacture a Nutritional Care System called EmerAid. This is available with a prescription from your Vet. It is a diet that is broken down for easy digestion by the debilitated bird. This can be used as a whole diet or as a supplement and can be fed as a liquid, in dough like bites or sprinkled on regular food. Your veterinarian can order from a veterinary distributor or send your prescription to Vetrxdirect.com and they could send the food directly to you. Emeraid IC Omnivore – Intensive Care Diet for Exotic Animals | VetRxDirect | 100g Powder

Please discuss with your Vet to determine if this would be the right product for your bird.

Take care,

Brenda
