Cockatiel poop

Hiya I’ve had my cockatiel for just about a year now he’s just over a year old. He eats the seed mix I get from the shop that I got him from but over the last week his poop has wee hard balls in them I’m starting to worry he’s not well the only thing I have bought him that I’ve never bought him before is a seed stick thing that I hang on the cage it’s not the normal one that I normally buy him but it’s all I could get while this covid has been happening. Is Hugo not well or isit something he’s eating? He’s been really quiet today I’m worried ?

Answer:

Hi Karen,

Cockatiels will have some solids in their poop, but there should not be anything hard. Given that he is now being quiet, I think you need to go ahead and take him to an Avian Vet for a check up. You know Hugo and the fact that his behavior has you worried makes me feel like something is going on.

Take care,

Brenda
