cockatiel travel

I’M MOVING AND HAVE TWO OLDER COCKATIELS
THAT I NEED TO TRANSPORT BY CAR ON A 12 HOUR
RIDE. WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST IS THE MOST
COMFORTABLE, SAFE WAY TO CARRY THEM?

Answer:

Hi,

You can either have a travel cage or carrier. It’s good to do some practice drives ahead of time to get them used to the car. Some do better if part of the cage is covered, because passing trucks can scare some birds. Make stops along the way for them to eat and drink. Water tends to spill, so a juicy fruit like oranges or grapes can provide some needed moisture. We have several webinars on travel, so I will give you the link to that play list. We actually have one coming up on moving with birds, but it may not be in time for your move.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
