Conure behavior

Good morning.
I have a Conure parrot she is only 1 years old.
I don’t know the reason, but she keeps bitting me and keeps going for my mouth.
Please what can I do to stop this behavior.
Thank-you

Answer:

Hi Allyson,

If she is going for your mouth, are you allowing her to sit on your shoulder? I personally am not a fan of birds on shoulders, and especially a young bird who is still learning how to behave. I find it best to keep your bird on your hand or a stand, at eye level or lower. While much debated, I have consistently found that parrots are more likely to misbehave and exhibit dominant behavior.

I am going to give you the main link to our articles on behavior. Please review each link as you will find information that will help you deal with the biting as well as other issues that may come up. The biting information is under the Bird Behavior link.
