crop stichted but leaking


my african grey parrot got stiches few days back i make him wear collar after stiches but still minor leakage from crop i’m applying antibiotics creams and powder to it for healing the stitches and cover the little leakage wound am i doing it right because i have no other way my african grey went to vet and he had alot of stiches all over crop area but idk why its still have minor leakage even there’s stiches tooo am so stress rn

Hi,

The best thing to do is contact the Vet. I don’t know why he needed stitches. If it was for a crop burn, he could need multiple surgeries because the skin continues to slough. If this was an injury, I would be concerned about an infection. Stitches should usually be kept dry, so you really need to contact the Vet and he may need new stitches and possibly an oral antibiotic.
