Dad budgie

Baby budgie is 3 weeks old and dad is acting aggressive towards mom and baby. Out of 3 eggs only one hatch. Baby doesn’t seem ready to be on his own but dad is making it dangerous with his behavior. He fought the mom so terribly and she seems to be guarding the cage from him.

Answer:

Hi,

You should remove the nest box if you haven’t already. It sounds like the male wants to breed again, so he wants the chick to leave. If this doesn’t make him stop being aggressive, then remove him until the chick is weaned and can be separated. After you separate the chick, you need to rest the parents for at least 6 months before you give the nest box back to them.
