How much handfeed formula should I give to my 1.5 months cockatiels baby and at what interval

Answer:

Hi Parag,

The amount can very because growth rates can vary. You should feed it until the crop is nearly full, but not tight. Think of a slightly deflated balloon. At this age they go several hours between feedings. You feed again when the crop is nearly flat. At this age they should start picking at food. You can offer pellets, small seeds, millet, soft food like cooked brown rice with mixed veggies, and even some thick formula in a small dish. Keep a variety of these foods available to them with a small dish of fresh water. Each morning before you handfeed them, put a dish of warm soft food and some warm, thick baby formula in front of them and then go away and prepare the handfeeding formula. Leave them alone with the warm food for about an hour and then handfeed them. Do this before each feeding and soon they will be eating on their own! 🙂
