Dislocated leg

My cockatiel has dislocated leg (hip) since yesterday ,there is no vet in my hometown, i have to travel to another city (which it takes time) …so i want to know how should i treat her ?and what food should i give her ? (Until i take her to a vet )
ps:she lost her appetite

Answer:

Hi Rabab,

You need to keep her quiet and inactive until you can get her to the Vet. However, it is very important to get her to the Vet as soon as possible. Birds will start to heal very quickly, so if you wait, scar tissue will begin to form and it will make it difficult to get the leg back into position. It can make a fairly simple procedure more complicated for the Vet, and result in pain and complications for her. If she isn’t eating, this is very serious and again, she needs to be taken directly to the Vet in case they need to tube feed her. Offer her anything she is known to like, even treats. It is more important for her to eat right now, than worry about nutrition.

Take care,

Brenda
