do cockatiels mind loud music?

i’m planning on getting a cockatiel in the near future, but i’m not exactly sure if my hobbies will disturb it. i play a variety of instruments such as french horn and guitar and practice very frequently, and i don’t want my bird to live in misery because of me. does it matter what volume i play with?

Answer:

Hi Sophie,

Birds generally like music. But probably not really loud, amplified music. If the bird can be in another room, it should be fine. I would be concerned about the bird’s hearing and well being if you played loudly in the same room as the bird. I do know acoustic guitar players who play around their pet birds, even with a bird on the shoulder. But this is not amplified.

Thank you for asking Lafeber.
