Eggs

I had my cocktail for 2years plus. I can assume it’s a male bird since no eggs were laid ????

Answer:

Hi,

No, while egg laying confirms a female, lack of eggs doesn’t mean you have a male. Probably more female cockatiels go through life never egg laying versus the chronic egg layers. You just always hear about female cockatiels laying eggs because they are prone to turning into chronic egg layers. If your cockatiel is a mutation where both sexes look the same, then the best thing to do is have the bird DNA tested. Knowing a pet bird’s gender can be very helpful when it comes to diagnosing health and behavior issues.
