Eggs hatched

My female budgie’s egg just hatched first one . As a pet parent is there anything I should do, or should I just let mother take care of chick?

Answer:

Hi,

You need to let the parents take care of the chicks. You should be feeding a nutritionally balanced diet like pellets – a seed mix does not provide the nutrition they need, and some birds will stuff too many seeds in a chick. If you only have seeds, go ahead and add pellets, as well as leafy greens, chopped veggies and an egg food. You can buy a commercial egg food, or cook an egg with the shell washed, crushed and cooked with the egg. If you go with fresh eggs, replenish at least once a day to prevent spoiling and don’t leave it overnight. The parents need a lot of food while feeding chicks. If the feel they do not have enough food, they will let the chicks starved. You will need to replenish all of their food throughout the day.
