Feather issues – Dr. Tully Webinar Feb. 24

My female ringneck has balanced diet, blood work normal. but she’s New changes from her feathers issues started from last year! Feathers start breaking from middle from after a while and slowly slowly (when new comes after molting) ,her tale long feathers break off badly!!! Doctor told me, she bitten her feathers in night times but I know that’s not true because when the feathers started from breaking from the middle that I can see it- that are weaker feathers because I have other 2 ringnecks too! Could you please let me know the reason and solution please Doctor Tully!

Here is Dr. Tully’s response:

I do not know the reason since I have not seen the bird and not aware of any testing that may have been done.  I would suggest that you get a psittacine beak and feather disease blood test since Indian ringneck parakeets are very susceptible to this virus.  It is a blood test that can be sent to a diagnostic lab by your veterinarian.
