Feeling guilty,,need help from you please.

I had two budgies, one of them died in winter.the one died was able to come to my finger and let me out him from the cage.He stood up on my finger when i entered my hand in the cage. Then I took him out of the cage. When i called him,he even responded.I did not have taming knowledge.but I somehow did all these. But i am feeling guilty because sometime I used to take him out of his cage even he did not want to come by grabbing him.Did I do something wrong that scared him? I am feeling guilty.I know that he knew me very well because of the things I mentioned..please someone help me.

Answer:

Hi,

I’m sorry you lost your budgie. Some budgies seem to be naturally social and are easy to work with. Always remember that coming out should be fun, so if a bird isn’t in the mood to come out, you should respect that unless it is a situation where you are trying to train a bird to come out of the cage. As for grabbing a bird, since they are prey animals, this can scare them because it is like a predator is grabbing them. However, it doesn’t sound like your budgie was scared of you, so grabbing him sometimes sounds like it was OK  to do with this bird.
