fertility Macaw

Hi Sir

Do you have a fertility product for Pairs Macaw parrot ?

Answer:

Hi,

There is no such product to improve fertility for parrots. Anything you may find will not be based on science and may not be safe. For successful breeding, the birds must be old enough – at least 7 years old for the larger macaws, 5 years old for the smaller macaws. Note – the age they breed in the wild is not known, but based on captive breeding, young birds are not as successful and tend to develop bad habits that ruin them as breeders. You should feed a nutritionally balanced diet, such as a pelleted diet. Also offer tree nuts, greens, veggies & fruits as well as an egg food. This can be a commercial dry egg food or cook eggs with the shell washed, crushed and cooked with the eggs. This protein and calcium supplement is important for the female to form eggs and remain healthy. The birds need the right type of nest box and privacy. It is not easy to breed macaws or most parrots. You can do everything right and never get chicks, and it usually has nothing to do with fertility. You have to be patient and sometimes it can take years before a pair finally breeds.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,
