Finches in nest

Hi I have 2 zebra finches and they just recently hatched baby finches . Every so often they stay out of the nest. It’s my very first time having baby finches , and I’m not sure what I should give them and how to care for them

Answer:

Hi Aidan,

The best thing to do is give them plenty of privacy and let the parents do their thing. Once the chicks have left the nest, remove the nest so the parents don’t try to nest again right away. The pair should be rested for 4-6 months. Once the chicks are weaned, you need to move them to another cage so the parents don’t pick on them.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
