Food

Hi!
I recently adopted a 10 year old male cockatiel. He was eating a terrible seed diet until he came to live with me, however, he has been very picky! Do you have any samples to try? Anything, including advice, is appreciated!

Answer:

Hi Nina,

It’s good that you want to improve his diet. I would suggest any of our foraging diets as they are nutritionally balanced the same as a pellet, but they are not ground up. Most seed addicts will eat them right away. Sometimes you need to crumble them at first, but once they learn to eat them, they really like them. Please contact our customer service at 800-842-6445 and they can help you decide what to offer.

Keep offering new foods – sometimes it can take months for a bird to try a new food or figure out that it is something he can eat. Most bird owners give up too quickly, so just keep trying.
