Hi DeShea,
The food can be stored in a cool, dry place like a pantry, or in the freezer. The refrigerator has too much moisture and can actually cause mold or mildew growth. If you store the food in the freezer, take out about a week’s supply at a time and store in an air tight container to maintain freshness.
Regarding the diet transition, it is a common belief that they must be converted to a pelleted food to have a nutritionally balanced diet. However, our foraging diets are formulated the same as a pellet, but still contain whole ingredients instead of being ground up. You can offer our Nutri-Berries, Pellet-berries and Avi-Cakes along with or instead of pellets and your bird will still get the benefit of pellets, with the added benefit of foraging exercise. And birds who are used to a loose seed diet will convert more easily to one of these foraging diets. Again, you can still offer the pellets with these diets.
Thank you for asking Lafeber,
Brenda
