Ghost peppers

Can an African Grey safely eat raw ghost peppers?

Answer:

Hi Anita,

I’m not sure if that would be a good idea. While they do not seem to be affected by peppers the way we are, that is a very strong pepper. I would be afraid it could cause skin irritation or eye irritation. Unless you can find information from owner who have fed the hotter peppers, I would stick to the bell peppers or jalapenos, as those have been safely fed to parrots. I can’t think of an advantage to offering any of the really hot varieties.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
