Grey nutrition

Is there a major difference nutrition wise between a Timneh and a Congo? We now have both

Answer:

Hi Kelly,

There have not been any studies on species-specific diets. There have been long term studies on captive flocks to determine what works best, and generally most species do well on a quality pellet or a diet like our foraging diets. No doubt different species eat different diets in the wild, but with no formal studies, diets are formulated based on what works best in general. Timnehs and Congos will generally eat the same diet. Some species or individuals might be more prone to deficiencies, which is why regular vet checks are recommended. But unless a bird is diagnosed with a specific nutritional need, then it should be fed what is recommended for al parrots.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
