grits

Am I able to feed my lovebirds including the babies breakfast grits?

Answer:

Hi Ginger,

Plain breakfast grits are fine to offer, in small amounts – a few bites. This means just the grits – which is a type of ground corn meal – and water. If you make them with milk, butter, salt, sugar or use instant grits with added ingredients, then they should not have them. I would not offer them to a hand feeding baby. And again, only offer small amounts. They can still absorb more liquid once consumed so a large amount would fill up a bird too much and could be hard to digest if they expand too much.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
