Hand tame cockatiel birds

Do i need to hand tame a scared cockatiel before breeding them? Like, is it really necessary to?

Answer:

Hi Moha,

There is no need to try to tame a breeding bird. Generally it’s not possible anyway. Breeding birds are not pets, and in fact if you turn a pet bird into a breeder, it will not remain tame. So it’s just fine if the bird is wild and doesn’t care for people. It is important that she is at least two years old. Cockatiels should not be bred until that age.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,
