I bought 2 cockatiels, 1 male and 1 female, from a store 10 days ago. They’re around 9-10 months old, (though I’m not exactly sure). The female was a bit sick when I got her—she’d been bullied by the other birds in the same cage and had some injuries around her eye. She was very weak and struggling to eat properly. Unfortunately, the shopkeeper didn’t seem concerned, insisting she’d recover in a week. However, after just 3 days, she passed away.
I initially kept the two birds together for 2 days before separating them. I noticed the male became quite aggressive if he didn’t see her nearby. After she passed, he seemed even more upset. For the past 2 days, he’s been quieter, but he’s also been drowsy all the time. He eats fine, his poop is fine and vent area are normal, but he doesn’t move much and seems easily scared and bcz of that he’s been having trouble sleeping and eating properly. Whenever I try to sit with him, he just runs away. He still can’t fly well but often perches on high places like the fan. Is it normal? Will he get used to the surroundings soon? Also he don’t eat any vegetables or pellets or any other food rather that mixed seeds ( mullet, rice grain, sunflower seed) he is scared to even go near it.
