How do I know if my egg are fertile

My parrots quaker lay 5 eggs and I want to know if the bird seat on the eggs or if I have to incubate them ?

Answer:

Hi Eli,

Unless you have a male, the eggs will not be fertile. If there is a male, then the male and female will take care of the eggs. They do need a nesting box, and without one, they are not likely to be able to care for the eggs. First clutches usually fail anyway. I would recommend that you do research on breeding quakers to decide if this is something you want to deal with. If you only have the female, then you can let her sit on the eggs for now and she will get tired of them usually after a couple of weeks. But it isn’t good for her to lay eggs if there is no male, so you would need to make some changes to discourage egg laying. If you let me know if this is a pair or single bird, I can be of more help.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,
