how do i make my cockatiel eat seeds

My cockatiel is over 6 months old and still doesn’t eat hard things, like seeds, pellets, and vegetables. I give him pellets that I put in water to make it soft, I’m giving him that for 4 months now I’m getting tired of the wining when he doesn’t get the pellets, I tried giving him a small amount of the pellets, and more seeds but he just throws the seeds out of the bowl, is my bird okay? please someone help me

Answer:

Hi,

When weaning a bird, the best method is abundance weaning. You can’t be concerned about waste when weaning a bird. They will waste more than they eat in the beginning. You should have pellets, chopped veggies, some fruit, greens and healthy table foods, all if the cage, every day. He does not need loose seeds. He will get all of the nutrition he needs from pellets and fresh foods. He will get little to no nutrition from loose seeds. Be patient with him and let him explore different foods. Leave the room when you first give him these foods so he will focus on eating and not begging from you.
