I bit worried about my zebra finches

Hello, I bought two zebra finches (male and female) about five moths ago. Recently I noticed that the male zebra finch chases the female finch around the cage from time to time, sometimes out of the blue (one moment they preen each other then the next the male starts chasing the female). Should I separate them for a while? Is this temporary because the male is in heat?
I should add that the cage is quite spacious with multiple branches and feeding places.

As long as he doesn’t hurt her such as pulling out feathers or drawing blood, then it’s OK for this to go on. If he gets too aggressive, then you will need to separate them. Unless you want to deal with breeding, they should not have any nests in the cage.
