Hi,
There is so much involved with breeding parrots, and you can do everything exactly the way it should be and still not ever get any chicks. It takes a lot of patience to breed parrots, because generally more goes wrong than right. Parrots are expensive because most species are not easy to breed. Some of the many, many reasons eggs might be infertile are infertile male or female, health issues, poor diet, poor mating technique, not mating at all – basically, you can take the birds to a Vet to get them fully checked out with lab tests and physical exam, but if everything is normal, unless you have their reproductive organs examined through surgery, it’s impossible to know if it is a fertility issue. Surgery is risky and everything may look great, so again you are left guessing why the eggs are not fertile. All you can do is let them try again, but if the eggs continue to be infertile, it would be best to give up trying to breed this pair. Some birds simply are not cut out for breeding. One additional comment is you said the eggs were empty – did you mean literally there was no yolk or liquid in the eggs? If the eggs were truly empty, this would be very unusual. Possibly they are poking a hole in the eggs somehow?
Thank you for asking Lafeber,
Brenda
