IRN Plucking

Hello there, I have a Indian Ringneck that is about 1-2 Years old and I believe she is plucking her feathers. I saw this because I noticed a lot of feathers on the ground and i noticed some small white feather poking out of her back and stomach. I have bought her many toys and I try my best to tame her but it seems like she wants nothing to do with me, I don’t know what to do. Thank you.

Answer:

Hi,

It sounds like she might just be molting and growing new feathers. If she is plucking, she will have bare spots of skin, or areas of white down feathers. A white feather here and there is probably a pin feather. Unfortunately IRNs can be standoffish. But don’t give up on her. I’ll give you some links to read that may help you.
