Is it possible?

Is it possible for 2 male birds and 1 female bird be in the same cage or do we need to separate them? We got a new female bird today and I’m scared they are going to be fighting and stuff

Answer:

Hi April,

When you get a new bird, you should keep it in a cage by itself, in a different room or across the room from your other birds for at least 45 days in case it is sick or carrying any diseases. After that, no, I would not put her in a cage with 2 males. It’s never a good idea to have an odd number of birds in a cage, even if they are all the same sex. Birds that are caged together will tend to pair off, and the odd bird gets bullied and picked on. With 2 males, adding one female can be even worse. The two males are likely to fight over the female. If you added 2 females, the cage would need to be very large, and you would not want to give them nests or try to breed them, or they will all start fighting. If the 2 males are getting along, I would let them stay together, and maybe you can get the female a companion at some point to share her cage.
