is my bird fighting

I have had 2 cocktails in the same cage since i got them at the same time. Just recently, one of them has started to get aggressive with the other, chase and nip him, has my bird now decided he wants to live alone? He is 2 years old

Answer:

Hi Jenni,

It sounds like the bird is hormonal right now. Are both birds male? If so this is normal, and as long as there are no feathers being pulled out or blood drawn, it’s nothing to worry about. He will settle back down again, soon. If the other bird is female, then it sounds like he wants to breed and she doesn’t. In that case, you need to separate them or he may get too frustrated with her and really hurt her.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
