Hi Janelle,
At this stage, all you can do is give them plenty of privacy and hope they feed the chicks. They will not feed each chicks for several hours after it hatches because it is absorbing the yolk sac. Hopefully they have plenty of healthy foods to feed the chicks. They should be eating a formulated diet like pellets – not a loose seed mix – as well as leafy greens, veggies and an egg food. You can buy a commercial dry egg food or cook an egg with the shell washed, crushed and cooked with the egg. Offer the egg daily. When they are feeding chicks, they eat a lot of food and need a lot available to them. You need to add more throughout the day so they know they have enough to feed their chicks. First clutches almost always fail, so be prepared, but hopefully they will feed the chicks and all will go well.
Thank you for asking Lafeber,
Brenda
