Kidney disease in cockatiels – Dr. Lamb Webinar Sept 16

is there any supports I can further do for my cockatiels, as I have a 30 year old with kidney issues, and a 26 year old one as well with kidney issues as well

Answer:

Hi Linda,

Here is Dr. Lamb’s response:

There are various supportive things that can be done for birds with kidney disease but it depends on the specific cause for the individual as to the extent of what needs to be done. Fluids, vitamin A, omega-3 fatty acids, and sometimes dietary changes are general things that can be done but other things like allopurinol, colchicine and medications specific for specific reasons for kidney failure could be needed as well.
