Leaving budgie on vacation

I am going on a trip for 4/5 days and am leaving my 8 year old budgie with family friends so she can have more social time rather than being alone. The only thing is these friends of mine have never let her out of her cage before to fly. I thought it would be better if during those days she just stayed inside her cage instead. Is this okay? Will she be stressed if she can’t go out?

Answer:

Hi Sunshine,

She will be just fine in her cage. She would likely be very scared if let out in a new environment and might fly into something and get hurt. Birds are boarded all the time in situations where they can’t be let out of the cage. Just having people around to talk to her will be enough for her while you are away.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
