Love Birds

I have 1 pair love birds (male & female) for 6 months. But still not lay eggs. Why? i have coconut nest in cage. Please advise. tq

Answer:

Hi Kala,

First, you need to get your birds the right type pf nesting box – what you have will not work. They need a large wooden box that they climb inside of. Keep in mind that if they hatch chicks, the chicks are nearly as large as the adults when they leave the box. So the box needs to be large enough for 2-4 chicks plus 2 adults – basically 6 full size lovebirds,

You may do everything correctly and they may never breed – not all birds make good breeders. I would suggest doing a lot of research on breeding lovebirds, get the right type of nest box and then try again.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
