loveable cockatiel starts bitting

I have an 11 yr old cockatiel. He has always been hi strung but affectionate.
Recently he has started bitting and doesn’t want to be touched.
His vet said he’s just moulting .

Answer:

Hi James,

I would agree with the vet if he is molting right now. Birds can be more sensitive to molting when they start getting older. He is probably also a bit hormonal since it is spring, the days are getting longer and the weather getting warmer. Hopefully he will be back to his normal self soon.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
