Make Java Finch

Can two male Java finches with no female coexist in the same cage peacefully

Answer:

Hi Linda,

Probably – as long as you don’t provide nests or mirrors and the cage is large enough. It’s also good to have two food and water stations. I say probably because you never know about an individual bird’s personality. If breeding is your concern, you can have a male & female and just not provide a nest. She will lay eggs at some point, but you can discard them or replace them with dummy eggs. Be sure to check the laws in your State. Unfortunately Javas are illegal in many States or a permit is required because escaped pets can pose a risk to agriculture.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
